As in the VK, nothing was spared in terms of build and material, and it shows. Jay Leno not only wanted to represent the style and function of a "Drivers Watch" in the first model Sheffield collaborated with Jay on but he also wanted to recognize the fact that there are a lot of folks who are both drivers as well as mechanics who work on their cars. Introducing the Sheffield Jay Leno's Garage Mechanic's Pit Watch.

Borrowing style and cues from the classic design of Jay's Drivers watch this new model has the same rugged 316L Steel Case but with a sand blasted finish to better hide the likely scratches a mechanic would tend to add to the watch surface while working in tight spaces. The steel case back has Jay's Signature and Thank You engraving.

This is a chronograph powered by the sturdy Seiko VK 64 Mecha-Quartz movement which combines a mechanical component for a smooth sweep second hand. A mechanical sweep but quartz powered for accuracy and simplicity.

The sapphire crystal and its anti-glare coating protects a bright white textured dial with the 12 at the traditional True North position with easy to read enlarged 60 minute sub-dial opposite the 24 hour sub-dial.

The bright lume on the hands and at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 is Swiss.

This watch has a 10ATM, 100 Meter Water Resistance.

The strap that comes on the watch is a black quick release FKM rubber strap that can be cleaned more easily after being exposed to the engine work a mechanic is likely to do, but this watch also comes with a quick release leather strap if you want to dress the watch up.

The Solar Steel is an homage to the classic steel case and bracelet tool watch. If I had brought this out as my first watch, I think it would have been seen as "well that's easy...just like a lot of microbrand tool watches." So I waited these last two years before bringing out my interpretation. I wanted to add value and interest by powering it with the Miyota 2070 Solar quartz movement used in the GT range. Honestly, I really like this watch a lot! The piano black bezel is just right. It has all the key specs: 20 ATM water resistance, 316L steel case with drilled lugs and engraved case back, Swiss lume on the dial and Japan lume on the bezel, sapphire crystal with anti-glare coating, and of course the steel bracelet with clasp.

The NO DATE Automatic You've Been Asking For

True to Sheffield's iconic 1960s diver, the 1A 38 Black/Orange features a striking black dial with bold orange markers, a 38mm case, and this production run featuring a "mil-spec" non-lume bezel. The most requested feature: NO DATE. Powered by the reliable Seiko NH35 automatic movement with 200-meter water resistance. The first no-date automatic. More coming soon.

The Rally is an homage to the classics. Who uses a steering wheel as inspiration? In this case, the famous Nardi wheel coveted as an accessory for Porsche* 356 cars of the 50's and 60's, as well as Ferrari and other classics. Nardi steering wheel variations are quite beautiful, and the one often seen in the 356 is the one I chose, with its black horn button, chrome spokes, and mahogany wheel.

The Rally's polished silver dial features a "wheel" inlay and black center, accented with luminous hour and minute hands. The mint green lume indices represent the color of the markers in the 356 speedometer and tachometer. The vented leather band completes the vibe.

All top-level specifications common to Sheffield watches are included: 316L case and back, sapphire crystal, and 20 ATM water resistance. The Rally features the sturdy Japanese Miyota Automatic 8215 movement.
