The Solar Steel is an homage to the classic steel case and bracelet tool watch. If I had brought this out as my first watch, I think it would have been seen as "well that's easy...just like a lot of microbrand tool watches." So I waited these last two years before bringing out my interpretation. I wanted to add value and interest by powering it with the Miyota 2070 Solar quartz movement used in the GT range. Honestly, I really like this watch a lot! The piano black bezel is just right. It has all the key specs: 20 ATM water resistance, 316L steel case with drilled lugs and engraved case back, Swiss lume on the dial and Japan lume on the bezel, sapphire crystal with anti-glare coating, and steel bracelet with updated side button release clasp.

Customers praised this solar-powered timepiece as "excellent value for the price" with a solid case, clean design, and accurate movement. The 40mm size fits well for everyday wear. Positive notes on the dial, bezel, and lume on markers. Some mentioned bracelet microadjustment lacking, sharp clasp edges, and weak hand lume. Overall "punches way above its price."

Jay, the watch is a SOLID value for money. love the Solar. Love the size. Case finishing is really nice. Lume on bezel and applied markers is great. Now for things I don't like or would have paid a bit extra for. The size of the hands are a bit too narrow and the hour marker a bit short. because of this the lume on the hands is bad, really bad compared to the rest of the lume. The bracelet is OK for the money but I would have loved an on the fly adjustment and would have been OK with a higher spend. The fact is I immediately took the bracelet off and added my own strap, so thanks for the common lug! Might I suggest you option a tropical or other option of strap with this as that is hoe I would have preferred to purchase in the first place. keep of the good works.

I took the Steel GT Solar straight off the bracelet and have been wearing it on vegan leather straps, which suits it brilliantly. The orange second hand is a great touch and really brings the dial to life.
The watch feels solid and well made, and the bezel action is good, though there is a small amount of back play. It’s not perfect, but it’s also not something that spoils the experience.
Overall, it’s an enjoyable, easy-to-live-with watch thanks to the solar movement, and one I’m very happy to wear regularly.

The Solor Steel Sheffield watch is a very robust, comfortable, and clean looking time piece! It looks good to wear on any occasion and would be a solid choice for an EDW tool watch! It punches way above its price in many ways

Nice watch, but it needs microadjustment… It’s either too loose or too tight. I cant find my sweet spot..

This watch is very well made and really delivers a lot of bang for your buck. Solid feel. Nice Dial. Good lume. A real bargain. Not my first Sheffield and likely won't be my last!

I bought 2 watches the Solar Steel and the Diver 1 Grey, both excellent. Delivery time to Uk was only 4 days, packaging was very good. Jay's customer service is exceptional.

I really love this watch! Simple yet elegant in a truly unique package. The matte black dial is perfect as it offsets the gorgeous piano black bezel. The markers and hands are just right in scale and color. And the bracelet was easy as pie to adjust. Its two tone finish is just right. Wear it up or wear it down, this is the quintessential tool watch. Nice work Jay, very nice.

Once again, I'm stunned by the quality of this timepiece for the price. The Solar Steel is my fifth Sheffield and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon. Nothing specific about the Solar Steel to call out other than the sum of all the parts are in fact greater than the whole. And happy to see a quality steel bracelet on a watch of this price point.

I’ve just taken delivery of my solar steel. I think it’s a thing of beauty. It’s my first solar watch, I have a collection of mechanical ones, and I can’t fault it. I bought the Superproduction when it was released and love that too. I’m on the waiting list for the Steel City retro diver. I’m from Sheffield in the UK and that’s what initially drew me to the brand. I’m so glad I spotted it. Keep up the great work.

A great sign of a very wearable watch is wrist time. The new Sheffield Solar Steel has not left my wrist since I put it on 2 weeks ago! (I normally rotate 1-2 times a week) The simple diver design with orange seconds hand is just right. Accuracy is outstanding! (A big must for me) At 40mm, it is the magic size for my 6.75” wrist. Highly wearable! My only gripe is the lume on the hands are a little weak. Other than that, a true “Bang for Your Buck” diver. I challenge anyone to find a better valuable in a solar dive watch… Buy one!

The watch looks great and presents itself as something from a price range much higher than the true purchase price. The only issue I've had is the corners on the end of the clasp that doesn't clip are very sharp. I have cut myself on multiple occasions with these sharp edges. I don't know what could be done to prevent this

Good everyday watch. A little small for my wrist but I knew it was 40mm when I prefer 42mm+ so I got what I ordered. Seems to be well made, sturdy, and holding up nicely so far.

Awesome watch for the price. The case is as solid as they come for the price range. The solar movement kept really good time. The bracelet is not bad, but the clasp could still use some work. even with that said IMHO this is still a 5-star watch in this price range.

Loving this watch. Bracelet feels a bit on the flimsy side, but I suppose at this price point, somewhat expected.

Impeccable watch for the price!

I have to be honest: the watch looked bland out of the box, and it is a lot more shiny than what I usually wear. But it looks fantastic on my wrist. It's got just the right amount of information set in a no-frill and tight package. The two-tone metal bracelet is just right. Another high point is the massive screw-in pins of the bracelet - much more civilized than the standard pins that you have to use a hammer. This is so well executed. Well done, Jay.
