Introducing the Solar Ceramic Chronograph.

The inspiration for this special watch came from Spike Feresten of Spike's Car Radio. An avid tennis player who spends hours on the court each day, Spike wanted a true sports watch, one built to withstand the constant shock of hard-hitting play. Because automatic movements are more susceptible to repeated impacts, a solar-powered quartz movement was the obvious choice.

The result is the Solar Ceramic Chronograph, a lightweight, highly legible watch designed to handle sweat, showers, swimming, and whatever comes after the court, course, or trail, all while looking exceptional.

Its 43mm white ceramic case is paired with a domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal for superior durability and clarity. A stainless steel caseback provides 100 meters of water resistance, far exceeding the typical 30-meter rating found on many ceramic watches.

Powering the watch is the Epson VS75B solar chronograph movement, featuring a long-life rechargeable battery with up to 10 years of service. Swiss C3 Super-LumiNova on the hands and markers ensures excellent visibility in low light, while two quick-release 22mm FKM rubber straps in white and blue let you change the look in seconds.

For the past few years, Spike has been an incredible creative partner and friend. In this episode, we dive into our latest collaboration, the new Solar Ceramic Chronograph. We discuss the inspiration behind the watch, the design process, and what it took to create a lightweight, solar-powered sports chronograph. The 42mm Diver was built in response to years of customer requests for a larger Sheffield. Inspired by the classic Sheffield dials of the 1960s, it pairs timeless design with modern dive-watch capability.

Featuring a rugged 316L stainless steel case, 300 meters of water resistance, sapphire crystal with anti-glare coating, and the reliable NH35 automatic movement, it's engineered for adventure above and below the surface.

Deep Gray models feature Swiss C3 lume on the hands, dial, and bezel for exceptional low-light visibility. Heavy-duty spring bars, a secure nylon web strap, and Sheffield's signature external dial markers complete a watch designed to perform wherever the journey leads.

Spike Feresten of Spike's Car Radio inspired the original SCR / Sheffield collaboration. The debut of that brilliant blue watch led to multiple reissues over the past two years. So how do you refresh a watch that already got so much right?

We believe the SCR II Blue is a worthy successor, carrying the torch forward while staying true to the original spirit. Subtle visual refinements give the SCR II its own identity while preserving the character that made the first edition so popular.

The core specifications remain unchanged: a bead-blasted 316L stainless steel case, automatic movement, anti-glare-coated sapphire crystal, 200 meters of water resistance, and a matching blue 20mm FKM Tropic strap.

What has changed are the details. The SCR II features slimmer Swiss lume shark-tooth markers, a more refined hand profile, and a deep blue dial framed by an updated blue bezel insert. Surrounding it all is a newly designed fine-tooth coin-edge bezel that gives the watch a more precise and elevated feel.

The Solar Steel is an homage to the classic steel case and bracelet tool watch. If I had brought this out as my first watch, I think it would have been seen as "well that's easy...just like a lot of microbrand tool watches." So I waited these last two years before bringing out my interpretation. I wanted to add value and interest by powering it with the Miyota 2070 Solar quartz movement used in the GT range. Honestly, I really like this watch a lot! The piano black bezel is just right. It has all the key specs: 20 ATM water resistance, 316L steel case with drilled lugs and engraved case back, Swiss lume on the dial and Japan lume on the bezel, sapphire crystal with anti-glare coating, and of course the steel bracelet with clasp.
